Before we talk about what the St Louis Cardinals have, let's talk about, what they don't have.
Coming into 2013, St Louis will be without two of their best pitchers, from a year ago. Chris Carpenter is likely to miss the entire season due to shoulder issues, and could also force the soon to be 38-year old, into retirement. Kyle Lohse, had a great season for the Cardinals, he's a free-agent now, and still without a job.
As for the Cardinals that will take the field, with the pitchers that St Louis does have, could set them up with still, one of the best rotations in the league, with Lynn, Wainwright, Westbrook, and Garcia.
It's a rotation, that sets up a stellar bullpen with Motte, Boggs, and Rzepczynski at the back of it. Motte, though, will have to start the season on the DL.
The Cardinals were the 2nd most productive offense in the national league, in 2012. The only key player they lost from that lineup, is Lance Berkman. Even though, Berkman only played 32 last season, due to a knee injury, he will still be missed.
But as long as, the club can stay healthy. Both Holiday, and Beltran, have great seasons at the plate. And the rotation performs well, without Carpenter and Lohse.
Then the St Louis Cardinals all have no problem, taking down the Reds, in the NL Central, and making a run at, a 12th, world series championship.
