Were only one week away from Opening Day, as Spring Training gets closer to wrapping up. Players are getting their last words in, as teams start making final roster decisions.
On a windy day in Sarasota FL, the Orioles and Redsox, took part in a slugfest, that ended with the Orioles on top, 12-9, after each team combined for 32 hits.
The Redsox took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and added to it in the second, when Christian Vazquez sent a 2-run homerun to centerfield, off of Orioles starter T.J. Mcfarland.
In the next half-inning, Wilson Betemit put Baltimore on the board with a 3-run blast of his own, off the Redsox Graham Godfrey. Betemit also hit a sac-fly a few innings later, before injuring his knee in the 5th, running from 1st to 2nd. It's being called a, sprained right knee ligament for Betemit.
Adam Jones came into the game, 1-18 this spring, before hitting the first, of his two homeruns in the game. A solo shot of Godfrey in the 3rd. Then a 2-run homerun in the 4th, off of Clayton Mortenson.
Matt Wieters came up after Jones in the 4th, to add a solo homerun, of his own, and give the Orioles a 9-4 lead.
Boston was able to tie the game in the 7th, when pinch hitter, and spring sensation, Jackie Bradley Jr, singled up the middle, plating two runs. Bradley Jr also tripled in the 9th, off of Chris Petrini.
But after JJ Hardy connected for a 3-run homerun of his own in the 7th, the Orioles held on, for their 18th victory of the spring.
Some notables in the game include Jonny Gomes, who went deep with a 2-run HR, off Jim Johnson in the 7th. Adam Jones finished the game 2-3, with 3 RBI's. Wilson Betemit had 4 RBI's. Will Middlebrooks also collected, a couple RBI's of his own.
Baltimore heads to Fort Myers on Tuesday, to take on the Twins, at 1:05 ET. Kevin Gausman will take the hill. As for the Redsox, they will have off Tuesday, then return to action against the Marlins, on Wednesday, in Fort Myers.
