When you think about the national league west, you probably think about the divisions two power teams, the Dodgers and Giants.
But what you might not realize, is that there's another dangerous team in that division. The Arizona DiamondBacks.
When I look at this roster, I see nothing but a team with potential, and talent. From top to bottom.
What the D-Backs have, is a lineup with the potential to score a lot of runs in 2013. A lineup without, Justin Upton, also without Chris Young, some of the pieces from last year are gone. Yet Arizona is better, than a year ago.
Now with Martin Prado and Cody Ross, the Diamondbacks also match up with Aaron Hill, Paul Goldschmidt, Miguel Montero, and Jason Kubel.
Hill hit .302 last season, and Goldschmidt popped 20 HR's and can do even more damage this year.
This past offseason, the D-Backs made many strides at improvement, with the additions of Ross, Prado, Brandon Mcarthy, Heath Bell, and Cliff Pennington.
Bell was a former NL West star, in his 5 seasons with the Padres. I expect him to pitch very well, in a division he once had, in the palm of his hand.
Arizona, I believe, may have one of the best pitching staffs in the national league. With their projected rotation of Ian Kennedy, Trevor Cahill, Wade Miley, and Mcarthy. With others prospects on the way, such as Tyler Skaggs.
The D-Backs bullpen, can shorten games better than most. Set with Bell, J.J. Putz, Brad Ziegler, and David Hernandez sitting in the back of it.
Then you take a look at what kind of bench depth Arizona has with Eric Chavez, Eric Hinske, and Wil Nieves. All, solid players that can make a difference, late in games.
With all of this, and much more I didn't even mention. Let it be known, that the Diamondbacks are a very well built, ballclub. In a league where anything can happen, I can easily expect, the Diamondbacks to be playoff bound, in the Chinese Year of the Snake.
