Spring Training report, San Diego Padres.

The San Diego Padres are one of those teams that were once a consistent playoff contender and are now rebuilding to get back to playoffs.

The Padres are just a team with not much to talk about.

For San Diego last year it was the tale of two teams. Starting the first half of the season off horrible, over 20 games under .500 at the all-star break. Then rallying in the second half to finish only 10 games under .500 at 76-86.

I was taking a look at the Padres roster and it was actually quiet refreshing of what I saw. The Padres aren't as bad as most people think they are.

What really stood out was the solid group of starting pitchers that San Diego possesses. A staff that includes Anthony Bass, Cory Luebke, Jason Marquis, and Edison Volquez. Also with Houston Street in the bullpen.

The Padres also come along with some young talented players in Yonder Alonso, Logan Forsythe, and all-star Chase Headley. Chris Denorfia, Carlos Quentin, and Cameron Maybin aren't a bad outfield combo either.

Let's be honest, the Padres aren't losing because they lack talent. Trust me they have talent.

The Padres have talent that just isn't ready yet the compete with the other teams in the west such as the Dodgers, Giants, and D-Backs.

But give it time. Like I said they have the ability to someday be winners. In only a few years time, I believe the San Diego Padres will be.
