Los Angeles can't catch a break.

It seems like every offseason, the Los Angeles Angels pull out their large wallets, to pursue the biggest and best players on the market. Yet, the Angels have nothing to show for it. Anaheim hasn't been playoff bound since 2009, when they lost to the Yankees in the american league championship series.

In 2012, the Angels shocked most of the baseball world when out of nowhere, they swooped in the land free-agent slugger Albert Pujols, who came out of the gates to put together one of the worst offense streaks in his career.

Along with Pujols, the Angels showed C.J. Wilson the money, bringing him to LA. Wilson had a season a little below par of what the Angels had hoped for, with a 13-10 record and ERA of just over 3.80.

Late in the season, Anaheim brought in Zack Greinke. But that didn't go anywhere. Greinke pitched to a 6-2 record, yet the Angels failed to make the playoffs for the 3rd straight year.

So what did the Angels do this offseason? Well, they yet again broke the bank on a 5-year, $125M contract to land Josh Hamilton, the former Texas Ranger.

Hamilton, like Pujols, has been any but productive on the young season. Off to a 5-32 start, with only 4 RBI's, Hamilton has looked like a shell of his former self. Nothing like the 40 HR all-star we had seen through the 1st two months of last season.

Anaheim addressed their rotation problem over the offseason, but they didn't improve it. Sure the Angels added Tommy Hunter and Joe Blanton. Yet, thats not really much over the staff of 2012 that included Dan Haren and Ervin Santana.

One of the Angels worst nightmares occured only a week into the season, when rotation ace Jarred Weaver took a ball off his left elbow, placing the all-star pitcher on the DL for at least 4 to 6 weeks. The already week rotation, had just gotten weaker.

Currently sitting at 2-6, last place in the AL West behind the Astros. Yes, the Astros. Los Angeles has already lost the 1st two of a three game set with the Athletics. It's important to came away with something against the team on a 7 game win streak, and looking strong atop of the division.

With the injuries, the rotation, and the sluggish hitters. It's almost as if the Angels just can't catch a break.
