Spring Training report, Miami Marlins.

After bringing you a report on the Astros yesterday, we turn our attention to todays report on the Miami Marlins.

Coming into the 2012 season the Marlins were the talk of Major League Baseball. With a new name, new look, new stadium, and a load of new big name faces brought in surprisingly from free-agency.

Then the season started and it wasn't the best of time for Miami. Starting off a very slow 8-14 in April, to be 41-44 at the all-star break.

Shortly before the trade deadline, the team sent 3B Hanley Ramirez to the Dodgers and pitcher Anibal Sanchez to the Tigers. The fire sale had begun.

The Marlins finished the season 69-93 and manager Ozzie Guien was fired after just one season in Miami. Heath Bell, who was signed prior to the season, was traded to Arizona. In one of the biggest trades of the year, pitchers Josh Johnson, Mark Burehle, and shortstop Jose Reyes were all shipped north of the boarder to the BlueJays.

Now looking ahead to 2013 you ask, what are the Marlins left with? Nothing, except slugger Giancarlo Stanton who doesn't even want to be in Miami. The Marlins best pitcher is now Ricky Nolasco, who will probably be traded. The 2nd best position player is Logan Morrison.

Somehow the fish were able to sign some players this winter, no not talented players. Only guys like Juan Piere, and Placido Polanco.

For now with only a lot of young players and old veterans, the Marlins are not a winning team. It's back to the drawing board. The Marlins aren't worse than the Astros, but they aren't much better. And this NL East, is a lot better in 2013.
