So everyone expected Detroit to win the AL Central this year, but as we all know they are in 3rd place 6 games back and 25-29. They clearly have not hit their expectations that were set this year. But you know who has done above and beyond what most thought they would do, The Chicago White Sox.
With all the focus so far this year about the Red Sox, Tigers, Rangers, and Angels not many know how good the White Sox truly are. After winning 9 of their last 10 games, I look at this team as one who really can contend for a playoff spot and maybe even a World series birth.
They are a team with some very good offensive hitters like Adam Dunn who is having a great year so far even though he's only batting .222 Dunn still has 17 HR's and 38 RBI's, which is what happens for most power hitters like Dunn. Also Paul Konerko is putting up some good numbers right now, 2nd in the MLB in hitting at .366 with 11 HR's and 33 RBI's to go along with some of the other good hitters in Chicago's lineup.
The White Sox are also one of those teams that can hit and pitch. AL Pitcher of the month Chris Sale has won 4 straight starts and is pitching very well right now same for former Cy Young winner Jake Peavy who is finally looking like his old self. and I believe that they are going to be a couple of they key pieces in the road to them winning the World Series.
